The Anniversary of Asociación de Damas Salesianas at St. Dominic Savio Parish

By Luis Chacon

On November 18th, we commemorate a significant milestone as the Asociación de Damas Salesianas (Salesian Women’s Association) of St. Dominic Savio Parish celebrates its 25th anniversary. Founded by Maria Márquez and Father Miguel, with the unwavering support of Gael Sullivan, this remarkable organization has grown to include 24 dedicated members, with 20 of them having fulfilled their commitment to the cause.

The core mission of the Asociación de Damas Salesianas revolves around serving youth, children, and those in need within the community. Their impactful initiatives include providing scholarships, distributing Thanksgiving meals, and offering support to families by bringing in psychologists. Through programs like “Woman to Woman,” they lend a compassionate ear to those who require it the most, instilling hope in both young minds and the women confined to their homes, empowering them to contribute generously to the noble service they provide as mothers.

At this juncture, the Asociación de Damas Salesianas extended an invitation to recruit more young members eager to make a difference. If you are interested in learning more about the ministry and becoming part of the Asociación de Damas Salesianas, please reach out to lchacon@salesianvolunteers.org. You will be connected with the association’s president, Beatriz Owens, who will guide you through the process.

As we celebrate this significant anniversary, let us acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the Asociación de Damas Salesianas to the St. Dominic Savio community and beyond. May their legacy of compassion, service, and dedication continue to inspire and uplift for years to come.
