A Focus on the World’s Displaced

June is the month in which World Refugee Day is celebrated, on the 20th. This month, Pope Francis also dedicated his video message with prayer intentions for migrants and all those fleeing their countries.

This is the context for Missionary Bulletin “Cagliero11” which has published a forum on displaced people in the world.

Referring to the data published by UNHCR – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – it emerges that:

108.4 million people in the world have been forcibly displaced due to persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations;
35.3 million are refugees, 62.5 million are internally displaced;
5.4 million are asylum seekers, while 5.2 million people are in need of international protection;
About 52% of all these refugees come from just 3 countries: Syria, Ukraine and Afghanistan.
