Today we commemorate St Francis of Assisi, one of the most beloved saints. Commemorated on 4 October, for 800 years St Francis of Assisi has been a beacon for the Church because of his full adherence to the gospel that gave him the name ‘alter Christus’, his choice of poverty to meet the Lord, his love for God the Father and his brothers and sisters, and his respect for Creation.
