St Dominic Savio Church, Bellflower, California

St. Dominic Savio Church community was delighted to learn the financial results of the annual Church Carnival on the weekend of October 18-20, 2024. The increased income was possible thanks to the participation of all the parishioners who picked up (not received by mail) and returned their raffle tickets and the involvement of new parish groups sponsoring food sales. A thank-you lunch was extended to all volunteers who worked at the carnival.

St. Francis High School Salesian College Preparatory, Watsonville, California

“With Thanksgiving just around the corner, our hearts are filled with gratitude for our St. Francis community like never before. Last month’s Burgundy & Gray Gala was a wonderful evening made possible by the unwavering support of our Sponsors, Donors, and Volunteers. We’re thrilled to share that we raised over $148,000-a remarkable achievement that will make a significant impact on our students and programs. Equally exciting is the fact that we met 100% of our Fund-a-Need goal, allowing us to begin the much-needed work of replacing the gutters on the H Wing and making crucial upgrades and repairs to the gutters on the D Wing.”

Salesian Family Youth Center, Los Angeles, California

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Today, the children in the after-school program at the Salesian Family Youth Center were given a special opportunity by St. Mary’s Church! They spent an hour learning about the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego, with guidance from Salesian Missionary Volunteers Alejandro and Peter, who led this moment of prayer.

We highlighted the significance of Our Lady appearing as a mestiza—a blend of both Indigenous and Spanish heritage—emphasizing her role in bridging cultures and giving people a sense of identity. This message resonates deeply with many of our children and youth, who, as first-generation Americans, often navigate the cultural blend of their roots from their parents’ homeland and their life here in the U.S.

May Our Lady of Guadalupe continue to inspire and guide them on their journeys!

The Feast of Blessed Madeleine Morano, November 14th

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians USA West remind us on their Facebook page:

“Today we celebrate Blessed Madeleine Morano, a woman whose life was a testament to faith, dedication, and love for God’s children. Born in Chieri on November 15, 1847, Maddalena’s journey began with a deep desire to teach and serve, first as a teacher in her community, then as a devoted Sister of the Salesian Sisters.

She worked tirelessly to spread the charism of Don Bosco, founding schools, oratories, and communities, all while nurturing countless vocations. Her zeal, devotion to Mary Help of Christians, and her unshakable trust in God’s guidance made her a true spiritual mother to all she encountered.

May her example inspire us to live with the same fervor and love, always with “one glance to earth and ten to heaven.”

Today, the Salesian Family Youth Center also provides a reel to help young people remember the Feast of Blessed Madeleine Morano.
