April 1, 2025: 91st Anniversary of the Canonization of Don Bosco

(ANS – Facebook) – On Easter Sunday of the Holy Year of Redemption (April 1, 1934), Pope Pius XI declared Don Bosco a saint, to the great joy of the entire Catholic world, especially the Salesian Family.

“He preferred above all to dedicate himself to boys and young people, particularly those abandoned by their parents, who led idle and wandering lives, exposed to the dangers of the streets.”

With these words from the Apostolic Letter Geminata Laetitia, Pope Pius XI highlighted Don Bosco’s commitment to youth, emphasizing how “he worked tirelessly to nurture and educate them in faith and virtue, guiding them toward Christian life through creative and ingenious means.”
