(ANS – Rome) – Today marks the start of the campaign ‘Lettere [IM]possibili. Risposte dall’800’ ([IM]possible Letters: Responses from the 1800s), which aims to raise awareness and curiosity about the monumental work of Don Bosco’s Epistolary, a documentary heritage collected with passion and dedication over many years by Salesian priest Fr. Francesco Motto.
With the publication of the tenth and final volume in 2024, the painstaking work of collecting and cataloguing the 4,682 letters of Don Bosco’s correspondence has been completed. And in 2025, this important work will be accompanied by the publication of the book ‘Le più belle lettere di Don Bosco’ (The Most Beautiful Letters of Don Bosco), a Salesian bestseller for the new year, which makes available to the general public 250 letters chosen because they are considered, for various reasons, to be among the most significant.
These texts are therefore extremely useful tools for getting to know and “savouring” the human, spiritual, charismatic, pedagogical, and cultural dimensions of an extraordinary life such as Don Bosco’s.
But how many people are aware of this? And how many have truly understood that Don Bosco’s letters can provide answers to questions that still interest young people, educators, Christians, and citizens in general today?
The new social media campaign, which starts today, Tuesday May 27, 2025, will appeal to Facebook and Instagram users in an intelligent and engaging way, but also invite them to reflect and take action: simply by giving in to curiosity and going “to the source,” to Don Bosco’s correspondence, which can be consulted free of charge online.
