(ANS – Sao Paulo ) – During the month of July, the Salesian Mary Help of Christians Province of Sao Paulo Brazil (BSP) promoted a new edition of its traditional ‘Mission Week,’ a project that has now become historic, mobilizing 27 groups from different Salesian communities in evangelization and community development initiatives that benefit both those who receive them and those who carry them out.

A total of around 1,300 participants took part in BSP Mission Week 2025, mostly high school teenagers, as well as parents, pastoral assistants, Salesians in formation, and perpetually professed Salesians, both priests and brothers.

During Mission Week, each of the 27 groups formed dedicated themselves to the pastoral care of a specific parish or community. The programme ran from Sunday to Sunday and included home visits in the morning, with blessings and prayer times in the homes, recreational activities such as oratories and competitions in the afternoon, and special celebrations in the evening.

More than a mission programme, Mission Week has for years been a strong youth ministry moment for all BSP educational and pastoral communities. It is the Church going out, visiting, serving, getting close to the people and especially the less visible, more vulnerable ones. For the young people who participate in it, it is an opportunity to experience a beautiful, living, and concrete face of the Christian faith, in tune with the Salesian charism, as well as a moment of growth that makes them fully protagonists and matures their individual talents.

With over 30 years of history, the project continues to be strong and to fascinate the hearts of Salesian youth throughout the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

The vast majority of Salesian houses in the BSP province participated enthusiastically and with large numbers of youth representatives in Mission Week 2025, once again reaffirming the vigour and importance of the missionary proposal in the Salesian educational-pastoral journey.
