(ANS – Ayagualo) – From August 18 to 22, the second Congress of Social Works and Services entitled: “Human Rights today, a Salesian outlook” was held in the city of Ayagualo. The meeting was organized by the Preferential Option and Work Formation sector of the Salesian Divine Savior Province of Central America (CAM) and brought together 52 participants from different Salesian houses in the region.
During the days of work, the participants reflected on the role of the Salesian mission in the integral formation of young people, enlightened by Don Bosco’s Preventive System and in dialogue with the Sustainable Development Goals. The Congress sought to promote critical and proactive thinking, aimed at strengthening civic commitment and education to rights and duties.
The program included conferences and debates on education, youth, and human rights. One of the most significant moments was the youth forum, where a group of young people shared their concerns, opinions, and experiences on the importance of knowing and defending one’s rights, as well as taking responsibility for fulfilling one’s duties. Their participation was distinguished by the sincerity and courage with which they expressed their views.
Among the topics discussed were: Preventive System and Human Rights; Education for a Culture of Peace and Prevention of Violence; Development of Proposals for Human Rights Intervention Policies in Education.
The congress consolidated itself as a space for dialogue and collective construction, reaffirming the Salesian commitment to the promotion of human rights, integral education, and the construction of more just and supportive societies.
