Insights from the Inter-America Regional Secretariat Meeting

Editor: In this post, we encounter an essential structure for the Association of Salesian Cooperators in the Inter-America Region – the Regional Secretariat, as they reflect on the VI Regional Meeting held in Santa Domingo, September 25-28, 2025.

By Pierre Larocque, SC, Secretary

(SSCC – Inter-America Region) – On Thursday, October 2, the monthly meeting of the Regional Secretariat was held virtually.

The initial prayer was made by Martín Calderón, World Councillor for the Region.

First of all, the general evaluation of the VI Regional Meeting of Formators has been carried out. A deep thank you was expressed to the organizing team and all support groups: logistics team, content team, workshops, and facilitators of dialogue spaces.

A special thanks to the Province of the Antilles for the excellent coordination of the event and, in particular, to the Salesian Cooperators of the Dominican Republic for their valuable collaboration.

The visit to the Oratory was a significant experience that enriched all the participants, offering a deeper meaning to the traditional “walk”.

It was recalled that the presence of Antonio Boccia was an invitation from the whole region, and his participation was made possible by the economic solidarity contributions of each Province.

The success of the sharing dialogues at the end of each conference was highlighted for their great contribution to the fraternal and formative sharing.

As suggestions for improvement, it was proposed that the text of the presentations be provided at the beginning of each intervention, thus facilitating follow-up in the corresponding language.

In the second point, it was recalled that a new session of the school of Formators will take place on October 21, led by two Salesian Cooperators, one from El Salvador and the other from Costa Rica.

Finally, it was announced that on November 16, the last regional formative meeting of the year will take place, hosted by Sister Leslye Sandigo, which will address Article 21 of our Project of Apostolic Life.

The meeting ended with the final prayer, guided by Sister Aracely Mayorga, regional delegate.
