A Celebration of Unity and Commitment in the Salesian Family at Santo Domingo Savio

By Rachel Pinchinati

(Bellflower, California) – An image speaks louder than a thousand words. With that spirit, on December 14, 2025, a very special day was experienced by the Salesian Family, which celebrated one more year of hard and constant work within the great Santo Domingo Savio community, reaffirming its commitment to the most in-need children and young people, following the style of Don Bosco.

The celebration was a true reflection of a shared mission. Going out to meet children and young people who live in situations of risk, suffering, and need, just as Don Bosco taught and as his sons and daughters continue to do around the world today. It was an afternoon marked by joy, fraternity, and gratitude for the achievements reached throughout the year.

We also welcomed as our special guest Fr. Oscar Holquin, SDB, a friend of the Salesian Community in Bellflower, and the Director of Ciudad Don Bosco in Medellin, Columbia. Fr. Holquin enriched the celebration even more by how he accompanied the community, sharing his closeness, message, and Salesian witness, which encouraged everyone to move forward with renewed enthusiasm.

The atmosphere was filled with music, laughter, and moments of fellowship, accompanied by delicious food, raffles, and the warmth of a united community. The active participation of the different groups of the Salesian Family gave special meaning to the gathering, strengthening the bonds that unite them in the same educational and pastoral mission.

Those present included ADMA, Salesian Cooperators, Salesian Ladies, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the Salesians of Don Bosco, and the Association of Ex-Alumnos Selesianos Sin Fronteras, who were the organizers of this moving and successful event. Each group contributed its enthusiasm and commitment, making the day a true family celebration.

This celebration was not only a time to share and give thanks, but also an opportunity to renew the commitment to continue working together for the well being and future of children and young people, faithful to the charism of Don Bosco and to the spirit of family that characterizes the Salesian mission.
