By Karen Krynen, Directior of Communications at Don Bosco Technical Institute –
(Rosemead, California) – Don Bosco Bosco Tech’s Red Cross Club sponsored its most successful Holiday Veterans Wishlist Drive yet! Nearly 2,100 much-needed hygiene and essential items for homeless veterans were donated by our generous students, parents, faculty, and staff. After final exams concluded, a dozen Red Cross Club volunteers rolled up their sleeves to load items into two staff members’ cars. The vehicles were jam-packed with shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs, socks, and many other comfort items we often take for granted. Bosco Tech staff then caravanned to the Arcadia Red Cross office to drop off the donations.
Victoria Phung, Red Cross Program Manager, Youth and Young Adult Services, and her gracious volunteers greeted Tech reps with Christmas spirit of gratitude along with a wagon ready to unload and organize the items. Victoria expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Tech’s annual partnership in this drive. “We are lucky to have Don Bosco Tech to count on. You are one of our top allies in helping our veterans. Thank you!” One of the Red Cross’s on-going lines of service is helping members of armed forces, active and veterans. The annual drive kicks off after Veterans Day and is sponsored by the Red Cross Club every holiday season.
