(Stockton, California) – Don Bosco Youth of St. Luke’s Church had the opportunity to celebrate Lunar New Year (Tết) this past weekend! Tết is celebrating the arrival of spring and a fresh new start. It’s a time to honor family, friends, and ancestors, with the sharing of lucky red envelopes, or Lì Xì, often filled with money. 2026 is the year of the horse, which represents having ambition and need to change for the new year!

At the Mary Help of Catholic Christian Center, a festival was held to honor the new year. It was filled with fun, laughter, food, and performances, which DBY had the honor to participate in. In total, we had a total of five performances, consisting of Múa Lân (traditional lion dancing), two group performances, a girls traditional hat and fan dance, and a couple’s hat dance.

Additionally, DBY also hosted game booths throughout the day for the MHOCCC community. The booths consist of slime making, fish toss, MarioKart racing, jumpers, and a selling booth with fun prizes. It was an opportunity for DBY members to volunteer for the day and build bonds within the community. Of course, one can never forget the saying, chúc mừng năm mới! Wishing you lots of good fortune and blessings, Don Bosco Youth.
