(Bellflower, California – March 15, 2026) – A joyful moment for the parish community of St. Dominic Savio Church was celebrated on March 15, 2026, as nine members of the community made their promise as Salesian Cooperators during a solemn Mass presided over by Mel Trinidad, Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Trinidad officially received the promises of the candidates, marking the culmination of a two-year formation journey. The group was accompanied throughout this process by Howard Hamel and Mikey Vera, who guided their preparation and discernment for membership in the Salesian Cooperators, the lay association founded by John Bosco to share in the mission of serving young people and the wider community.

The candidates were formally presented during the Mass by Mike Alvarez, Provincial Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators. Their commitment represents a renewed expression of the Salesian charism within the parish community, emphasizing service carried out in the spirit and style of Don Bosco.

A particularly meaningful aspect of the celebration was the personal history many of the new Cooperators share with the parish. Five of them were formed within the youth ministry of St. Dominic Savio Church and have remained active in the community as adults. Their promise as Salesian Cooperators reflects a continued dedication to serving young people and the Church, embodying the Salesian call to accompany youth with faith, joy, and generosity.

The celebration gathered members of the parish and the Salesian Family in a spirit of gratitude and hope. Photographs of the event were generously provided by Giovanni Fernandez, capturing this significant milestone in the life of the community.
