Building Community, One Act of Service at a Time

By Luis Chacon, Coordinator of Youth Ministry

(Boyle Heights, California) – The Mary Help of Christians Parish Festival was a beautiful reminder that strong communities are built through faith, service, and collaboration. We are grateful to Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, and Assemblymember Marc Gonzalez for joining us and supporting this special celebration.

A special recognition goes to our Girl Scouts, who enthusiastically sold shaved ice throughout the festival, and to the youth of the Salesian Family Youth Center, whose leadership was evident in every aspect of the event. They organized the lotería, coordinated raffles, sold confetti eggs, welcomed guests, and helped with setup and cleanup.

We also thank Brother Tom Mass and the Salesian Cooperators for their joyful presence, hard work selling corn, and encouragement of the Girl Scouts throughout the event. Together, these efforts reflected the Salesian spirit of family, service, and community, helping make the festival a memorable celebration for all.
