Girl Scout Troop #82563 Celebrates the End of the Year with Family Camp

By Iris Espinosa, Girl Scout Parent Leader

(Los Angeles , California) – The Salesian Family Youth Center Girl Scout Troop concluded a year of growth and achievement with a family camping trip at El Dorado Park on the weekend of June 20–21, 2026. The trip was made possible through the strong collaboration of the Girl Scouts and their parents, under the guidance of Miriam Hernandez, the troop leader. Everyone contributed by taking on various responsibilities for planning, fundraising, communications, activities, food, and supplies.

Over several weeks of preparation, the girls participated in a variety of activities that helped them grow as leaders while working toward a common goal. They raised funds for their camping trip by designing, creating, and selling handmade crafts at community pop-up events. Through this experience, they developed skills in entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, communication, financial literacy, creativity, and customer service.

The girls also strengthened their confidence by interacting with members of the community, practicing decision-making, setting goals, and taking responsibility for their contributions to the troop. Their hard work and dedication made it possible to enjoy a successful camping trip, where they continued building friendships, independence, outdoor skills, and an appreciation for nature.

We are proud of all the girls accomplished this season and grateful for the support of our families and community in making these experiences possible. In conclusion, Ms. Miriam shared, “Our girls tried new skills, stepped outside their comfort zones, and showed their continued commitment to scouting. They truly made this weekend special.”
