(ANS – Turin) – The 11th Salesian School of Spiritual Accompaniment has begun in Valdocco, bringing together 23 participants from 14 different Provinces (ATE, AFC, ANG, MDG, ILE, ICP, ICC, ISI, CRO, SLK, CAM, COB, BBH, BMA), accompanied by Fr. Silvio Roggia, General Councillor for Formation, and Salesian Brother Raymond Callo, a member of the Formation Sector. Three simultaneous interpreters for Spanish, Portuguese, and French are also present.
The first week of the program will take place in Valdocco, while the following four weeks will be held at Colle Don Bosco.
According to the new Ratio (2026), the formation of Salesian spiritual guides is considered a matter of strategic importance for the Congregation, as accompaniment lies at the heart of Salesian formation and vocational discernment. Without well-prepared guides, there can be no effective accompaniment, sound vocational discernment, or profound assimilation of the Salesian charism. Spiritual guides are not presented as optional collaborators, but as key figures in helping Salesians become “conformed to Christ” and faithful to Don Bosco’s mission.
Therefore, the Congregation is committed to forming Salesian spiritual guides, emphasizing that they must be accompanied, trained, supported, and constantly updated.
