(ANS – Rome – September 25, 2026) – Today, Friday, September 25, marks the end of the second and final day of the Mediterranean Region Meeting at Salesian Headquarters in Rome. The meeting brought together the Salesian Provincial Superiors for a time of discussion, formation, and sharing ahead of the start of the new pastoral year.

The meeting, convened by Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Regional Councillor for the Mediterranean, forms part of a wider program of regional events that began on Tuesday, September 23, with the meeting of the CISI (Conference of Salesian Provincials of Italy), continued on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, and will conclude on Saturday, September 26, with the IBERICA meeting, scheduled to run from the morning until lunchtime.

Day One: Finance and the Salesian Mission

The Mediterranean Region Meeting opened on Thursday, September 24, with a welcome address by the Regional Superior and the introduction of the participants. The day continued with two talks by the Economer General, focusing on the balance between provincial centralization and the autonomy of the houses, the relationship between finance and the Salesian mission, and the charismatic dimension of the management of houses and provinces.

In the evening, the participants moved to the St. Tarcisius Community (postnovitiate) for Vespers, night prayers, and supper.

Day Two: Team Visit and Best Practices

Today began with the Eucharist and Lauds, presided over by the Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard.

The morning was devoted to a number of key themes for the life of the Region: an initial introduction to the Team Visit, the Statutes for the Curatorium of Houses of Formation, and the National Centers for Youth Ministry, understood as avenues of collaboration for reflection, coordination, and pastoral planning.

This was followed by a session to share best practices on providing support during the review of local animation bodies, with particular attention to innovation in governance, participatory planning, and scheduling.

Closing with Culture and Fellowship

In the afternoon, there will be a presentation on the North Africa Circumscription (CNA), as well as an update on upcoming meetings and the regional calendar, including information on a vocational seminar, other seminars currently being finalized, and possible courses for directors and meetings for confreres in formation.

The day, and with it the Mediterranean Region Meeting, will conclude with a cultural visit to the Museum of the Imperial Forums and Trajan’s Markets, followed by a communal dinner in Rome’s Jewish Ghetto.
