(ANS – Rome – October 12, 2026) – The Salesian Congregation invites members of the Salesian Family to participate in the online launch of “Good Practices for Salesian Communities Receiving Volunteers” on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 7 p.m. Italy time.
Developed through the collaboration of the Missions, Youth Ministry, and Formation Sectors, this new resource offers practical guidance to help Salesian communities welcome, integrate, and accompany missionary volunteers. It emphasizes that volunteering is more than an opportunity to serve. It is a transformative experience of faith, personal growth, cultural exchange, and shared mission.
The one-hour online gathering will feature an interactive panel discussion with Fr. Silvio Roggia, Fr. Jorge Crisafulli, and Fr. Rafael Bejarano, who will explore the importance of missionary volunteering from the perspectives of their respective sectors. The discussion will highlight how thoughtful preparation, meaningful accompaniment, safeguarding, and community involvement can enrich both volunteers and the communities that welcome them.
Salesians, volunteering coordinators, formation personnel, lay collaborators, provincial delegates, and all those involved in missionary volunteering are warmly encouraged to participate. The gathering also offers communities considering welcoming volunteers an opportunity to learn how to prepare for this important mission.
Inspired by Don Bosco’s family spirit, the initiative reminds us that volunteers are not simply additional helpers but valued members of the Salesian Family who deserve a welcoming home, meaningful formation, and genuine accompaniment.
