Salesian Economers and Administrators from the SMX and SSM Provinces Hold Meetings

(ANS – Spain – November 6, 2026) – Meetings of Salesian economers and administrators from the two Spanish Provinces took place in Godelleta (Valencia) and Madrid between October and November 2026. The meetings provided opportunities to review the financial situations of Salesian works and communities, receive updates on employment-related matters, and share tools and guidelines to improve administrative and financial management.

Province of Mary Help of Christians, Spain (SMX)

The Salesian community in Godelleta hosted the traditional annual meeting of administrators from the Salesian works of the Province of Mary Help of Christians (SMX).

The coordination meeting took place October 20–22 under the guidance of Marco Vázquez, Provincial Economer, and his team. Also present were the Provincial, Fr. Fernando Miranda, and the Youth Ministry Delegate, Fr. Jordi Lleixà.

Approximately 100 leaders responsible for various provincial services attended the working sessions, which combined group discussions with individual meetings among those responsible for this strategic area of the Congregation.

Among the topics discussed, participants shared insights into the responsibilities of their roles and their relationships with schools. Other subjects included updates to financial information, legal and employment guidance, insurance matters, and data protection. Participants also formed groups according to their areas of responsibility to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration with their respective leaders.

Province of St. James the Greater, Spain (SSM)

On November 3–4, the Don Bosco Center in Madrid hosted a meeting of school administrators from the Province of St. James the Greater (SSM), convened by Provincial Economer Fr. Óscar Bartolomé.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, review the schools’ financial situations, and address issues related to administrative and personnel management.

The proceedings began with introductions of the new administrators, followed by a session of “conversation in the spirit,” during which participants shared how they carry out their responsibilities and reflected on the possibility of greater standardization among suppliers.

The program included sessions on budget oversight, indirect costs, grants, preparation of financial statements, and the use of artificial intelligence in administration.

Employment-related matters were also addressed, along with updates on Educ@mos and Verifactu. Javier López Guerra, from La Salle, shared his experience with supplier consolidation, while Juan José Roldán Rodríguez, from the Catholic Schools of Madrid, spoke about grants and other issues of interest to educational institutions.

Finally, on Thursday, November 5, a meeting of the economers of the Salesian communities was held online. The session focused on the Province’s financial situation, changes related to pensions and the RETA self-employment scheme, preparations for year-end financial statements, and guidelines for developing budgets.

Participants also discussed occupational risk prevention and the training needs of Salesian economers.
