(ANS – Rome) – On March 13, Fr. Fabio Attard, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, with the consent of the other members of the General Council, appointed Fr. Julio César Boffelli, SDB, as the new Superior of the St. Artemides Zatti Province Argentina North (ARN) for the six-year term 2026–2032. He will officially take up his post on April 25.
“Grateful for the willingness of our dear Fr. Julio, we wish him a happy and fruitful ministry, for the good of every Salesian brother, of the lay co-responsibility that supports the spirituality and mission in every Salesian house, and of the many children, adolescents, and young people who await him,” said the current ARN Provincial, Fr. Horacio Barbieri, SDB. “We ask God, through the intercession of Don Bosco, to accompany him in this new ministry and that together we may continue to grow in holiness and in Salesian life.”
Julio César Boffelli was born on June 16, 1967, in Concepción del Uruguay, the son of Oscar Boffelli y Aurora Avanzini. He completed his novitiate in La Plata, where he made his first religious profession on January 31, 1987. After continuing his Salesian formation and life in various communities, he made his perpetual profession on October 17, 1992, in Resistencia. He was ordained a priest in the same city on December 16, 1995. He pursued postgraduate studies at the Pontifical Salesian University, where he obtained a Licentiate in Theology with a specialization in Spirituality in 1999.
Throughout his Salesian life, he has held various responsibilities in formation and community leadership. He has devoted himself particularly to houses of formation, where he first served as a formator, then as rector of the postnovitiate, and is currently rector of the Aspirantate and Prenovitiate in Fontana, Argentina. In addition, he served as Provincial Councilor in the Our Lady of the Rosary Province and later as Vice Provincial. He continued his service in the ARN Province, where he also held the roles of Provincial Councilor, Vice Provincial, and Delegate for Youth Ministry.
