(ANS – Naples) – The meeting of the Mediterranean Region took place on Sunday, April 26, and Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Salesian Institute in Naples. The gathering brought together the Superiors of the various Provinces of the Region, convened by the Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, for a time of discussion, planning, and sharing of pastoral guidelines. The meeting forms part of the ongoing process of coordination and revitalization of the Salesian mission in the Mediterranean area, with particular attention to today’s educational and pastoral challenges.
The proceedings began with the morning Eucharistic celebration, followed by the introduction of participants and the host Province of Southern Italy (IME). Among the main speakers was the General Councilor for Social Communication, Fr. Fidel Maria Orendain.
Significant time was devoted to planning for the six-year term, including the presentation, discussion, and approval of key documents, along with moments of reflection and shared dialogue. In the afternoon, a general tour took place, and in the evening, the group traveled to the Salesian community in Torre Annunziata for a fraternal gathering.
On April 27, the day began with a discussion on promoting awareness of the 29th General Chapter (GC29). Participants also addressed specific topics with the Sector Councilors and shared best practices, including the reorganization of Salesian Italy and the experience of “lay-managed houses.”
In the afternoon, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics for upcoming meetings, finalized the calendar, and took part in a session dedicated to the “Mamma Margaret’s Letter.” The meeting concluded with a cultural visit and a fraternal agape meal.
