Celebrating Blessed María Romero Meneses, FMA

Today, we celebrate Blessed María Romero Meneses, FMA, whose life was a remarkable witness to complete trust in Mary Help of Christians and an unwavering commitment to serving those most in need.

At just 18 years old, she entered the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters). Soon afterward, she was sent to Costa Rica, where her mission extended far beyond the classroom. Through her faith, compassion, and tireless dedication, she transformed countless lives.

Blessed María walked alongside the poor with humility and love, encouraging young people to become active servants of others. She helped establish clinics, schools, food programs, recreation centers, and homes for families who had nowhere else to turn. Her life reflected the heart of the Salesian charism—bringing people together through faith, hope, and practical acts of charity.

As we honor her memory today, may we be inspired to follow her example by living lives of faith expressed through love in action.
