November 6  – LEADS Inter-America Meeting

The members of Leads Interamerica got together to continue their new journey  as leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement. It was divided in three parts: 1. Formation (Invitation of Pope Francis to celebrate World Youth Day 2021) 2. Accompaniment (Ideas in how to support the delegates of Youth Ministry to celebrate and communicate WYD 2021 ) 3. Commitment. Strategies to continue developing the plan already done for the group.

November 9 – CYM Meeting

On Nov 9th the Coordinators of the Youth Ministry (CYMs) of the province and the Youth Ministry Office had their second meeting. The CYM’s were given an opportunity to give brief updates on activities happening at their sites and what they are planning for the fall.

Information on SYLC 2022 and Spirit Team application were given along with the important due dates and calendar dates.

November 10 – RASS Inter-America Meeting

On November 10, 2021, the RASS (Salesian Social Works Network) had an online meeting with the world delegate for youth ministry, Fr. Miguel Angel, and his team. The purpose of this meeting was to share the new vision the congregation has for all the social works in the world. The main idea is to continue developing a network that will provide important information about the impact in this social area. Fr. Miguel Angel shared the news of a meeting that will take place in Rome in 2022 with all the social works representatives in the whole Salesian world.

November 10 & 18th – Salesian Summer Camp Meeting

On Nov 10th and on Nov 18th the Watsonville Salesian Community along with the Salesian Youth Ministry office met to discuss and strategize the planning of Salesian Summer Camp in July.

November 11 – Religious Education Congress Meeting

On Nov 11 the Youth Ministry Office, along with Br. Tom Mass Province Economer, and Mrs. Elena Diaz, SYM coordinator, to discuss our Salesian Exhibitor Booth in person at RE Congress.

November 17 – SYLC Meeting

The SYLC Administrative Team met to continue the prep work for SYLC 2022. This year’s SYLC 2022 Team is: Conference Director: Fr. Fabian Cardenas,Conference Coordinator Ms. Gina Robles, Program Coordinator Mr. Andrew Coffey, Curriculum Coordinator Bro. Al Vu, Conference Media Production Coordinator Fr. Fabian Cardenas, Administrative Coordinator Marisol Becerra, Spirit Team Coordinator Bro. Reegan Ledet and SYLC Chaplain Fr. Itchan Laygo.  SYLC dates are June 8th to June 14th and it will be held this year at Camp St. Francis in Aptos, Ca. 

Province Animation Team Meeting (PAT)

Fr. Fabian presented the overview of the Province Organic Plan process so far. Also, information for the context of the Province, and data on Salesians and young people was collected. This information will be analyzed by an expert. Regarding the question: What about the context of the young people outside of our Salesian places? A small team has been created to collect the information and present it to the Province Animation Team.

November 19 – Directors Meeting

Directors got together to continue their ongoing formation with the Provincial and his council.

Fr. Fabian presented the curriculum of SYLC 2022 to the directors asking for their feedback and recommendations. Also there was a reflection on how to involve them more in the process of SYLC.

November 22 – Thanksgiving Luncheon

In celebrating thanksgiving last month, the Youth Ministry Department gathered at De Sales Hall and shared a delicious meal together. We began the luncheon with an opening prayer and a reflection on making gratitude a daily practice. We are so thankful for everyone who has helped the Youth Ministry Department and those who invest their time and energy for the benefit of our young people!
