LEADS Interamerica and Cone South

On December 4th the members of LEADS Interamerica and Cone South gathered together to continue their Salesian formation and teamwork to strengthen the Salesian Youth Movement and its impact in both regions and its provinces. The Salesian formation was delivered by Fr. Fabian, coordinator of the Interamerica region, and a special moment of prayer was led by Fr. Francisco Vieira from Brazil, Recife (BRE), and coordinator of the Cone South region, who was recently appointed as new Provincial in his province.

SYLC

On December 8th SYLC registrations were made available on the SYLC website www.salesianymwest.org.  SYLC 2022 will be held at Camp St. Francis from June 8th to June 14th. SYLC Spirit Team applications are being submitted for SYLC 2022.  Many young people from our Salesian sites have been applying.  The Spirit Team will be officially announced on the Feast of St. John Bosco, Jan 31st.

Religious Education Congress Meeting

On December 9th the YM office along with Bro. Tom Mass, Andres Neria, and Fr. Vien Nguyen met to begin brainstorming on the Salesians of Don Bosco exhibitors booth at the RE congress. This year’s RE congress will be held in person at the Anaheim convention center as well as virtual. 

PYMT Meeting

On December 11th the Province Youth Ministry Team gathered to discuss the overview of the Province Organic Plan Process, NCYC West, and to share youth ministry department updates. There was also a discussion on youth ministry site visitations that will be taking place in 2022.

SYM LEADS WORLD COUNCIL

On December 11th, the Salesian Youth Movement World Council LEADS gathered together for the second meeting of the school year. We got our Salesian spiritual formation, shared opinions, and proposals for the celebration of Saint Francis De Sales this year. We also had participation of the SDBs and FMAs involved in the preparation of the Salesian Youth movement event for WYD Lisbon in 2023. They shared with us an overlook of what we have to expect for that special moment.

New Coordinator of the Parish Commission in the Province

On December 11th, Fr. Gustavo Ramirez, Pastor in Stockton, and Fr. Fabian gathered together to restart the work to make a transition and prepare for the next commission of parishes at large in February 2022.

Camp Meeting

On December 17th there was a  meeting to discuss Salesian Summer Camp. The Provincial Council has decided that there will be no summer camp for 2022. There are future tentative plans to open summer camp again in 2023.

Meeting with NCYC Executive Director Christina Lamas

The YM office and the moderator of the Provincial Chapter 2022, Br. Al Vu, gathered together with Christina Lamas, executive director of NCYC on December 20th, to get ready for the Province Leadership meeting that took place on January 10th.
