SYLC participants gathered for the SYLC Workshop at Salesian College Preparatory in Richmond, CA. 

Salesian Youth Movement Commission

On April 18th, the first meeting of the Salesian Youth Movement Commission took place. This meeting was led by Monica Rosales, who is the Salesian Youth Movement Coordinator. Youth from different communities around our Province gathered to discuss the goals of the SYM commission and the current projects happening in our Province. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they continue meeting and putting projects in place in the coming months. 

World Youth Day Formation Meeting

On April 19th, the participants who will be going to World Youth Day in August gathered together for a monthly formation meeting. This meeting was led by the young adults at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in San Francisco, CA. The focus for this gathering was centered on rising up to what God is calling us to and making time to thank him for all that he has done for us. Please continue to pray for all the participants, coordinators, and volunteers who will be making this journey during the Summer. 

SYLC Workshops Northern and Southern California

On Saturday, April 22nd, and April 29th, the first SYLC Workshops took place. This is the first year that the Province Salesian Youth Ministry Office is hosting these workshops to better equip youth to be prepared for the SYLC conference in June. Both of the workshops were focused on guiding youth to meet each other and learn about Salesian Leadership through their top five strengths as youth leaders in the Clifton Strengths Assessment. These workshops empowered youth to notice how their gifts can be used in the service of others within their community and in the people they encounter every day. It was also a great opportunity for the youth to notice the active participation of the various communities this year for SYLC 2023. We are so excited about SYLC beginning on June 7th and ask for your daily prayers as we prepare for this conference.
