Empowering Youth: Rachel Griffin’s Finding your Smile Echoes Don Bosco’s Vision at the Salesian Family Youth Center

By Luis Chacon

At the Salesian Family Youth Center, we are always excited to welcome young individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the world. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Rachel Griffin, a talented young entrepreneur and author, who graciously shared her time and her inspirational book with the children at our center. Rachel’s visit not only brought joy and optimism to our young members but also reminded us of the importance of using our gifts to empower others.

Spreading Joy Through Literature:

Rachel Griffin, a remarkable young author, took on the challenge of spending several hours at the Salesian Family Youth Center, dedicating her time to engage with our children. What made Rachel’s visit truly exceptional was her decision to be present during the most challenging moments of the day—the end of the camp when the children eagerly awaited to be picked up and taken home. Undeterred by the circumstances, Rachel embarked on her mission of sharing her literary work with our youngest members.

Rachel read excerpts from her latest book, “Finding your Smile,” a heartwarming story that encourages young readers to transform their feelings of sadness into joy and optimism. Through her engaging storytelling, Rachel captivated the children’s attention and sparked their imagination. Her book not only entertained but also inspired the young minds, reminding them that happiness can be found even in the most difficult times.

An Act of Generosity:

Rachel’s visit was not limited to sharing her story alone; she also generously gifted her books to the most attentive children of the day. This act of kindness left a lasting impression on our young members, who were thrilled to have a tangible reminder of Rachel’s inspiring words. By donating her books, Rachel not only encouraged the joy of reading but also instilled in the children a sense of empowerment and possibility.

Embracing Don Bosco’s Legacy:

Rachel Griffin’s visit to the Salesian Family Youth Center embodied the spirit of our founder, Don Bosco. Like Don Bosco, Rachel recognized the value of investing in the education and well-being of young people. By sharing her talent and dedicating her time, Rachel not only entertained the children but also served as a role model, encouraging them to discover and share their own gifts with others.

Joining the Movement:

Rachel’s visit serves as an invitation to all young individuals who wish to make a difference. We encourage you to follow in the footsteps of Don Bosco and Rachel Griffith by sharing your unique talents and gifts with others. Whether it’s through storytelling, music, art, sports, or any other passion you possess, the Salesian Family Youth Center welcomes you to come and contribute to the betterment of our community.
