NFCYM Exchange – Day Two Recap

By Gina Robles, Province Youth Ministry Associate

(Louisville, Kentucky) – Day 2 of the NFCYM EXCHANGE began with General Session II, centered on the theme “Accompanying Each Other.” The session invited participants to reflect on how we walk with one another in ministry, especially in a time when young people are searching for connection, guidance, and authentic relationships.

The day continued with a variety of breakout sessions, including one on AI, Artificial Discipleship, and the Future of Ministry, along with several other workshops exploring different aspects of pastoral ministry and leadership in today’s world. These sessions offered both practical tools and forward-looking perspectives on how the Church can continue to meet young people where they are.

Later in the day, General Session IV, “Accompaniment and the Media,” was presented by Sister Nancy Usselman, FSP, Director of Pauline Media Studies. She shared how media can be used not just as a communication tool, but as a powerful means of accompaniment—to listen, to engage, and to journey with young people in meaningful and faith-filled ways. Her presentation highlighted the responsibility and opportunity we have to use media intentionally in ministry.

The evening of the NFCYM Exchange concluded the day with a Mass in celebration of Saint Blaise, who is known as a protector of throats. During the liturgy, participants received the Blessing of the Throats, a meaningful and prayerful tradition that reminded everyone of God’s care for our health and well-being.

The night then continued with a regional dinner gathering, offering a relaxed and joyful space to connect, share stories, and build relationships with others from our regions. It was a beautiful way to end the day—rooted in prayer, community, and fellowship
