(San Gabriel, California – October 18, 2026) – The community of St. Bridget Chinese Catholic Church gathered at the San Gabriel Hilton Hotel on Sunday, October 18, for its annual fundraising dinner. Organized by the Chinese Catholic Association of Los Angeles (CCALA), the event embraced the theme “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” It was a heartwarming evening filled with faith, gratitude, and fellowship.

One of the evening’s highlights was the play St. Francis: Back to the Future. Through humor and lighthearted storytelling, the performance imagined St. Francis of Assisi arriving in modern society and bringing his timeless message of humility, love, and peacemaking to life in a vivid and engaging way.
During the evening, the parish expressed its deepest gratitude to the Louie family and Dr. Ken and Joyce Tse for their longstanding generosity and unwavering support of the parish.

The community also celebrated Bishop Edward Wm. Clark’s 80th birthday and 25th anniversary of episcopal ordination, as well as Fr. Jimmy Nieblas, SDB’s 40th anniversary of priestly ordination.

The festivities continued with a St. Francis true-or-false game, in which each table selected a representative to participate. Parishioners and guests enthusiastically followed Sr. Mary Beth’s prompts, making the activity lively and enjoyable.
The exciting raffle brought the evening’s festivities to a joyful peak. Beyond the thrill of winning, it brought parishioners and guests together in a spirit of celebration. The emcees once again invited the pastor to sing onstage. Joined by fellow priests and several CCALA members, he delivered a spirited rendition of “The Kindness of Our Spiritual Father,” bringing the memorable evening to a wonderful close.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the fundraising dinner, as well as to all the staff members and volunteers who generously gave their time and effort to make the evening so warm and joyful. Every contribution supported the parish and reflected the community’s care for one another.
May we continue to embrace the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, living as messengers of God’s love and peace.
