January Recap

RE Congress Meeting 

On Jan. 4th, the Youth Ministry Department gathered to plan for the virtual Religious Education Congress this year. There will be a virtual booth and resources available to attendees. The schedule will be announced soon. You can register online at recongress.org. 

Province Leadership Meeting

On Jan. 5th the Youth Ministry Department took part in the  Province Leadership Meeting with all the directors, pastors, principals, delegates, and coordinators. The purpose of this meeting  was to go over the Province reports for each department and sector. Also, there were discussions on the vision statement in the Province Organic Plan (POP). 

SYLC Meeting

On Jan 7th there was a SYLC 2021 planning meeting to discuss the website launch date and the making of the promo video. The plan discussed was to launch the website at the beginning of February. Moving forward, there will be more details released every 11th of the month. 

CYM Meeting

On Jan 12th there was a Coordinators of Youth Ministry Meeting. The topic of discussion was to review the goals that were discussed in the leadership meeting and go over the importance of the Salesian Youth Movement. Elena Diaz, the Salesian Youth Movement Coordinator presented from the Frame of Reference to guide these reflections. 

PYMT Meeting 

On Jan 23rd there was a Province Youth Ministry Team Meeting and the focus was on the Salesian Youth Movement. As a team they used the Frame of Reference to guide the conversations and reflections.

World Youth Day Meeting 

On Jan 21st there was a meeting to discuss World Youth Day 2023 in Portugal. The Youth Ministry Office in collaboration with Social Communications and the Salesian Youth Movement Coordinator are inquiring to receive travel package estimates from certain agencies. We are also planning to make an announcement soon to detail the next steps for those who are interested in attending. 

Province Animation Team

On Jan 27, The Province Animation Team (PAT) gathered together. The Provincial, delegates, and the coordinators of the different departments and sectors with the Youth Ministry office, discuss the structure and objectives of the team. The team also discussed plans for the Province Leadership meeting. 

Provincial Visitation to Richmond and Corpus Christi Communities

In January there were two Provincial Visitations that took place in Richmond and Corpus Christi Salesian Communities in CA. The main components were prayer, readings, and guided meditations on the Frame of Reference. There was also a community activity in the afternoon for two hours. The meeting also included the introduction of what youth ministry and vocations are doing and a reflection and sharing on Salesian Parishes, Salesian Youth Movement and Vocations. 

Salesian Family: St. John Bosco Triduum

On Jan 29th as part of the St. John Bosco Triduum the Salesian Family organized an online workshop on how to live out the Strenna 2021 in our daily lives. 

Formation Commission 

On Jan 27th the formation commission of the Province met to discuss the organization and the members of this commission. They also discussed action steps moving forward to continue to improve formation in the Province. 

Meeting with Pastors

On Jan 19th there was a meeting with all of the Pastors of the Province. They discussed and reviewed the survey for parishioners that was created to get perspectives of young people and families. There were conversations on the questions, areas of research, and its utility for the benchmarks and standards for our Salesian Parishes in the Province.
