Remembering Fr. Paul Chuong Nguyen

by Sheila Kun

(Rosemead, California) – The St. Joseph parishioners gathered for a group picture. We called it a “Red Nose Day” remembering Fr. Paul (1958 – 2023). Fr. Paul wore the red nose to capture the attention of the young, a group that is dear to his heart. As a true Salesian, following the footsteps of St. Don Bosco, Fr. Paul took every opportunity to make it a positive and fun experience for the children to encounter Jesus. He brought joy to every occasion and he seized every retreat day to make the kids feel that they are loved. The red nose that he wore is a symbol of love, gentleness and kindness – these are trade marks of the Salesians. We remember him as an innovator, educator and a true missionary whose life is well lived. Miss you Fr. Paul.
