A Weekend of Soccer, Spirituality, and Service

Intramural Soccer Tournament

On Saturday, April 6, the fields of Salesian High School Bishop Mora became an arena of camaraderie, competition, and celebration. With nearly 50 young participants, primarily parishioners from Santa Isabel and St. Mary’s, the tournament underscored the Salesian Family’s commitment to fostering community through sport. Special thanks are owed to Enrique Diaz, a Salesian Cooperator, who served as a referee and played a pivotal role in securing donations for the first and second place prizes and the generous support of Victoria Witherington among others. This event, beyond its competitive spirit, highlighted the values of teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.

Friday Night Lights: The Club Don Bosco and Journalism Session

The spirit of Salesian mentorship and youth engagement extended beyond the field into the intellectual and spiritual realms. Every Friday at 6:15 PM, the Pastoral Room of the Salesian Parish of Santa Isabel becomes a hub of discussion and learning with the Club Don Bosco. Last Friday, the club delved into the profound theme of mercy, engaging the youths in conversations that challenged and nurtured their understanding and compassion.

Simultaneously, a unique session on journalism was held with students from Roosevelt High School at the Salesian Family Youth Center. This initiative aimed at empowering young individuals with the skills and confidence to express themselves, tell their stories, and understand the world around them through the lens of media literacy and ethical journalism.

Counselor Training for “Camp Salesian”: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders

The preparation for the much-anticipated “Camp Salesian” summer camp took a significant step forward with the training of over 50 young counselors this Friday. This preparatory session was not just about the logistics of summer camp management but, more importantly, about leadership, responsibility, and creating an environment where young campers can learn, play, and grow in a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
